The last couple of weeks we had the pleasure of riding with another Englishman, Ian Holt, and unlike me, he has class. He was introduced as a friend of Flavia’s and we rode together a couple of times whilst he was here. We won’t talk about the minor crash, because that would be poking fun at someone that had a mishap, and with him being an Elite rider on the Felt team in England it probably wouldn’t do his street cred any good at all. However, for an elite status rider he had none of the aloof behaviour that is seen so often. A really down to earth guy.
Anyway, the point of mentioning all this was his hometown race in Newport this weekend. The Newport Nocturne sounds like a fantastic race with a lot of big boys from Le Tour there. The race report is compelling reading. Sadly for Ian he was blocked by a crash in the finish and came in 21st. One thing interesting is that his younger brother made it 7th in a very talented field. It sounds like the talent pool is overflowing in the Holt family. Congratulations to you both.
There was also a good piece on bikeradar.com about them.

Wow, is that his natural hair colour? The Californian sun sure must have bleached it!

Nice! I thought he’d Photoshop’d his face onto a kit photo, I’m sure you can see the join.
