Sunday is the Benicia Crit and here on Team Winder we’ve got 4 races going on, Mex & Ruth will be out for the W3/4 race. Ruth is tough and keen to race, this will be her first crit. Before you go all out on one, Ruth asked to race, we chatted about the 3’s being in the same field, but we decided that they wouldn’t be too dangerous for her to ride with. After all, she is strong and inexperienced, so this could be a short-lived race or a blind, all out show of aggression from the start line. She’s gone from doing kids races on her mtn bike to racing with the elite in less than 3 months. We’ll see. Mex is tired, she’s had a tough first season with over 20 races and is still going at it, having fun and looking to wipe away the disappointments of the Giro.

Before that though will see me race with the geezers, whats left of them at the end of the season. With Metcalfe and Derdenger joined on the start line by 4 Morgan Stanley/Spine combo’s we should have some fireworks towards the end of the race. I’m looking forwards to the P12 field, Hannah Banks from VAC will be there, Flavia was talking about going too, so we might have to keep the smack-talk to a more moderate level, whilst they rip our legs off.

I read in the Romper Room that Joel is taking off and missing the last action of the year, thats a shame. Others are thinking about it too, but I still expect enough to show to make a great race. Hope to see you on Sunday.
