Oh, there is a world out there…

Saturday morning and I’m not riding, first time for almost a year. No racing, no training, no need to get up early. Wait, I’ve got kids that have activities - where did they come from - kids and activities? There is also the English Premier League, I’ve not seen a game so far this season, and now I’m watching Birmingham vs Man Utd. ScreenshotBeing from Bolton, supporting Man Utd is like switching from supporting Democrats to Republicans - you don’t do it, the there is the Birmingham manager, Steve Bruce - he used to play for Man Utd, so I can’t say I’m interested in them winning either. Nah, I hope Birmingham stuff Utd.

Hey, thats almost a complete paragraph without talking about bikes, racing or training, power zones, … how’d that happen? Well, for one, I screwed up. Instead of organising a nanny to take care of the kids whilst Mex and I went to Interbike, I left it too late and we couldn’t go this year. It sounds like the parties were as fun as last year, the announcements not as “in-your-face”, and it was every bit as soul destroying as it was fun. Lets face it, it would’ve been a great way to take away the memory of last weekends Chico crits… don’t get me started - great event, lousy racing on my part.

The next few weeks of easy riding, cocktails, ice-cream and not worrying about eating the wrong things are gonna be bliss. I was in the company of someone with a cold this week and didn’t even worry about if I was going to catch it. The kids tell me we’re missing some water bottles, I looked in the workshop - there are a bunch still in bottle holders from Sunday - oops.

I did go to Peets this week and Pegasus, in the car, the girl at Peets looked surprised and said “oh, you have real clothes too…, I didn’t recognise you”. How many other simple pleasures will I be able to participate in? Mex even booked a baby-sitter for tonight - we’re going to live it up, make up for not going to Vegas. Watch out San Francisco, the Winder’s are coming to town.

No bike riding? Better put the scale away, I think you’re gaining weight. Go Arsenal or Wanderers! Man U sucks!
