Time to get Juiced

ScreenshotFor a while now I’ve been following a set of new technologies that claim to make to life richer and give more choice, more to do with my day job than my passion. One of these has been Joost, I believe the correct pronunciation is “yost”, founded by the original guys from Skype. Joost brings video content to your computer using similar concept as Skype, but this time you get to choose what TV shows you want to watch, create your own playlist and then you can also chat with others watching the same show.

Like most things, when they first started it had a caché attached to being one of the first to get access to it. But the drawback was the content, it sucked, most of it wasn’t even interesting. Then I went back to it earlier this year and was able to watch some of the Worlds TT for women from last year, and they also had some MTB stuff. It was good, but it still didn’t replace my BitTorrent downloads from UKNova.

ScreenshotYesterday I decided to go back again, they’ve just done a public launch and I thought I’d see whats new… well, cycling.tv is now available via Joost, not the paid stuff, but the free stuff. The nice thing is the interface is better suited to watching video content than a regular web-page.

I enjoyed watching the Tour of the Reservoir 2007 from the British Premier Calendar events, I’ll go back and watch some of the other great content. Check it out, its ‘roid free at www.joost.com
